Medmar Navi S.p.A. is a private ferry company from Naples, founded in 1969, and one of the big vehicle carriers of the Gulf of Naples. Its core business is the Ischia traffic: car ferries from Naples' Calata Porta di Massa and from Pozzuoli to Ischia Porto and Casamicciola, around 9,000 sailings a year carrying some 1.8 million passengers and 450,000 vehicles. Beside passengers and vehicles the company ships fuel, gas and waste for the islands, and it runs a daily call centre and its own online booking. Procida sits on the Pozzuoli side of that network.
The ships
Medmar's fleet consists of conventional car ferries with open decks and vehicle decks, ships built for the short bay crossings rather than for speed. On the Procida run the company uses the Medmar Giorgia, a car ferry whose 40 minutes across the bay run a little slower than the Caremar ferries on the same corridor; the ticket names the ship for your sailing.
Routes to Procida

Medmar's transport regulations ask foot passengers to be at the boarding point at least 15 minutes before departure and passengers with a vehicle at least 30 minutes before, with the documents that confirm the booking data; after those deadlines boarding cannot be guaranteed. One piece of hand luggage of up to 20 kg per person is included in the ticket, and for 2026 Medmar has confirmed that no extra charge applies to accompanying luggage on the Ischia and Procida routes. Small pets travel in a carrier or on a lead, dogs muzzled, and animals stay out of the lounges. Vehicles travel only with a passenger, and for Procida the island's seasonal landing ban for non-resident vehicles, set for 30 March to 15 October in 2026, decides whether a car fare is worth considering at all; during the ban the car stays in Pozzuoli.
