Getting to the harbours on Ischia
Ischia Porto is the island's transport hub: buses from all directions end near the quay, and the Procida boats leave from the marked berths along the harbour rim. Casamicciola, the second departure point, lies on the north coast; its pier handles the Naples-bound traffic that calls at Procida on the way. Island buses link the two in around 20 minutes. Whichever harbour your ticket names, follow the carrier's check-in time and allow for the bus journey between them.
Check-in and boarding
Tickets are sold at both harbours and online. Follow the boarding instructions and document requirements shown with your ticket. Luggage allowances and handling depend on the carrier and craft, so verify them before travelling with bulky or extra pieces.
On board
The crossing is short enough that the craft hardly matters, but the difference exists: the Caremar ferries give you open air and the full panorama of the channel, the hydrofoils an air-conditioned cabin and a few minutes saved. On a clear evening, the ferry's aft deck with Procida's pastel front growing ahead is the better ride.
Arrival on Procida and onward
Boats from Ischia land at Marina Grande, Procida's single harbour. Everything starts at the quay: the island buses, taxis and the ten-minute climb to the Corricella viewpoints. For a day visit from Ischia, note the time of the last boat back to your harbour; it differs between Ischia Porto and Casamicciola.

Procida lies right on the shipping lane between Ischia and the mainland, so the hop across the channel is the easiest crossing in the gulf: about 25 minutes from Ischia Porto with Caremar, and as little as 10 minutes from Casamicciola, where SNAV's hydrofoils and Caremar ferries call on their way to and from Naples. Sailings spread across the whole day, year round.
For travellers, this leg is what makes the two-island itinerary work: base yourself on either island and see the other without luggage drama, or string Naples, Procida and Ischia into one line. Note that Ischia has two departure harbours for Procida; check whether your boat leaves from Ischia Porto or from Casamicciola, they are half an island apart.

Car ferries can carry vehicles, but Procida bans non-resident cars from 30 March to 15 October 2026. For an island hop, travel on foot unless you have verified both eligibility and vehicle space for your sailing.
