Three year-round corridors:

• Naples - Procida, about an hour by car ferry, around 40 minutes by hydrofoil, up to 20 departures a day
• Pozzuoli - Procida, about 30 minutes by ferry, the cheapest crossing
• Ischia - Procida, the island hop, from 10 minutes

Seasonal lines add Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast from spring to the end of September, plus local mini-ferries from Monte di Procida and Torregaveta in high summer.

Car ferries leave from Calata Porta di Massa, hydrofoils from Molo Beverello. They are separate entrances a kilometre apart along the harbour front, 15 to 20 minutes on foot. The ticket names the pier; on departure day that line matters more than the departure time.

Everything lands at Marina Grande, the island's single working harbour on the north side. Buses, taxis and the walking routes into the village all start at the quay, and no point on the island is more than about an hour on foot from it.

The core corridors can be compared and booked online in your own language through the booking links on the route pages; the operators also sell directly, and every harbour has ticket booths. For normal days, buying a few days ahead is plenty; for August evenings and holiday weekends, book as soon as your plans are fixed.

Online tickets carry the passenger's name, and spot checks happen, so carry an ID that matches. There is no systematic border-style control on these domestic crossings.

It depends on the fare, carrier, reason and seller. Read the conditions shown before payment. After booking, use the issuer or contact on your confirmation for any change, cancellation or refund; there is no single outcome across all tickets.

Child age bands and reductions vary by carrier and craft, and resident tariffs do not apply to visitors. Enter every passenger's age in the booking flow and check the fare shown before payment.

From 30 March to 15 October 2026, not as a normal visitor: the municipality bans non-resident vehicles from landing, with exemptions essentially for disabled travellers and for people who own or rent a home on the island. Outside the ban, Caremar's car ferries take vehicles at fares by length. The practical answer for most trips is to park in Pozzuoli or Naples and cross on foot.

Pozzuoli is the comfortable choice: paid lots and garages near the harbour, easy approach roads, and the cheapest crossing right there. In Naples, the port area has garages around both piers at city-centre rates. Either way, aim for the morning; summer weekends fill the closest lots first.

Rules vary by carrier and craft. SNAV publishes a carry-on limit and excess-baggage ticket, while Medmar publishes a separate 2026 allowance. Check the carrier named on your ticket before travelling with bulky or extra luggage.

There is no ferry-versus-hydrofoil rule shared by every operator. Bicycle acceptance, fees and capacity depend on the carrier and sailing; Alilauro, for example, lists paid bicycle carriage on its seasonal Sorrento route. Check before booking.

On the Naples corridor, the hydrofoil is faster, uses Molo Beverello and costs more in Caremar's tariff. The conventional ferry takes about an hour from Porta di Massa and offers open decks. Compare the actual craft, fare and luggage terms.

Use the check-in time shown by the carrier or seller for your sailing. Allow extra time for a ticket booth, vehicle procedure or assistance request, and for reaching the correct Naples pier through city traffic.

Wind can disrupt hydrofoils before conventional ferries, but each carrier decides whether its sailing operates. Check the timetable and the operator notice on the day; in doubtful weather, prefer an earlier departure.

Spring and early autumn combine calm seas, mild light and space on deck. August delivers the fullest boats and the booking pressure; winter brings wind days but also the island at its quietest, with the year-round corridors running throughout.

Facilities vary by vessel. Tell the carrier when booking and request help in advance through Caremar PMR or the SNAV form. Confirm the exact sailing rather than assuming every craft is accessible.
