About Caremar

Caremar, Campania Regionale Marittima S.p.A., is the regional ferry company of the Gulf of Naples, based in Naples at Via Conte di Castelmola. Founded in 1975 as the Campanian arm of the state-owned Tirrenia group, it passed to the Campania regional government in 2009 and has belonged to the MSC group since 2012. Today it links seven ports of the gulf every day of the year: Naples, Pozzuoli, Procida, Ischia, Casamicciola, Capri and Sorrento. For Procida that makes Caremar the constant: whatever the season and whatever the wind does to the fast craft, its ferries are the sailings that run.

The fleet

Caremar sails three kinds of craft. The conventional ferries Adeona, Driade, Fauno and Naiade carry vehicles and passengers with open decks; the fast ferries Isola di Capri, Isola di Procida and Isola di Vulcano are the enclosed, quicker option on the longer legs; the catamaran Achernar and the hydrofoil Eraclide serve the fast connections. Together the fleet adds up to roughly 12,000 tons, with room for more than 5,200 passengers and around 300 vehicles at a time. On the Procida crossings you will mostly meet the ferries and the Naples hydrofoil; the ticket names the craft.

Routes to Procida

Caremar is the one company on all four corridors of this site. From Naples, the Naples - Procida car ferries leave Calata Porta di Massa and take about an hour, the hydrofoils leave Molo Beverello and take around 40 minutes; together with SNAV the corridor sees up to 20 departures a day. Pozzuoli - Procida is the short, cheap ferry hop of about 30 minutes and the natural route if you arrive by car. On the Ischia - Procida channel Caremar sails from both Ischia harbours: about 25 minutes from Ischia Porto and about 30 from Casamicciola, where the ferries call on their way to and from Naples. The day's sailings are in the timetable.

Check-in, vehicle and pet

Caremar's conditions of carriage ask passengers travelling with a vehicle, and the drivers, to be at the boarding point with their ticket at least 60 minutes before the departure of the ship or fast craft; after that, boarding is not guaranteed. Foot passengers follow the boarding time shown with their ticket and keep it ready for the check at the gangway. Hand luggage is free: 20 kg on the ferries and fast ferries, one piece of at most 50 x 40 x 20 cm and 10 kg on the hydrofoil and catamaran. Dogs travel on a lead and muzzled, cats and other small animals in a carrier, and animals stay in the designated areas or the on-board kennels where the ship has them; guide dogs are exempt. Vehicles are carried only with their driver, and for Procida the island rule comes first: non-resident vehicles may not land between 30 March and 15 October 2026, so outside that window a car crosses on the Porta di Massa or Pozzuoli ferries, inside it you park on the mainland. Passengers with reduced mobility notify Caremar at least 48 hours before travel.

Tickets

Caremar sells online, through its MyCaremar app and at the ticket booths of every harbour it serves; the crossings on this site can also be compared and booked through the booking links on the route pages. Procida tickets carry the island landing tax and, when bought online, a small supplement on top of the fare; the ferry is cheaper than the hydrofoil on the Naples corridor, and child categories exist. The current amounts are on the prices page, the sailings for your date in the timetable.

FAQ Caremar

Frequent questions

Questions and answers about Caremar and its Procida ferries.

Which routes to Procida does Caremar sail? +

All of them. Naples - Procida by car ferry from Calata Porta di Massa in about an hour and by hydrofoil from Molo Beverello in around 40 minutes, Pozzuoli - Procida by ferry in about 30 minutes, and Ischia - Procida from Ischia Porto in about 25 minutes and from Casamicciola in about 30. Every corridor runs every day of the year; the sailings are in the timetable.

Ferry or hydrofoil, which Caremar craft do I take? +

On the Naples corridor both exist and they leave from different piers: the ferry from Calata Porta di Massa with open decks, vehicle deck and the lower fare, the hydrofoil from Molo Beverello with about 20 minutes saved and the more central pier. Pozzuoli and the Ischia channel are ferry crossings. The ticket names the craft and the pier.

When do I have to be at the pier? +

With a vehicle, at the boarding point with your ticket at least 60 minutes before departure of the ship or fast craft; after that Caremar does not guarantee boarding. Foot passengers follow the boarding time shown with their ticket and keep the ticket ready for the check at the gangway; allow extra time in Naples for reaching the right pier.

Can I take a car on a Caremar ferry to Procida? +

Only outside the island ban and only on the car ferries from Porta di Massa and Pozzuoli. The 2026 regional decree set the landing ban for non-resident vehicles for 30 March to 15 October; inside a ban window the answer for visitor cars is no, and you park on the mainland. Outside it, vehicles travel with their driver at fares by length.

Are pets allowed on board? +

Yes. Dogs travel on a lead and muzzled, cats and other small animals in a carrier, and animals stay in the designated areas or in the on-board kennels where the ship has them. Guide dogs are exempt from those restrictions.

What does a Caremar ticket to Procida cost? +

The fare depends on the corridor and the craft: the Naples ferry is cheaper than the Naples hydrofoil, Pozzuoli is the cheapest crossing, and the Procida landing tax and an online supplement come on top. The current amounts and the child categories are on the prices page.
